Legacy. Loyalty. Excellence.

A family name on every truck, and on every job

Northern Arizona Electrical Solutions is a second-generation family business built on loyalty, craftsmanship, and the people who live here.

How it all began

Dominic Chance, the owner of Northern Arizona Electrical Solutions, started working alongside his electrician father at around 8 years old. Watching his dad and learning the trade from him, he wanted to continue the legacy of providing high-quality craftsmanship and safe electrical services to this community and beyond. That mission and purpose drove him to earn his Master Electrician license and open his own company.

In his early twenties, he branched out of the family business and ventured into a brand new field of electrical contracting by working for a large mining company in North Dakota. His skills were eventually called home to Northern Arizona, and he invested many more years working as a mining electrician for a global mining company — heavy three-phase distribution, motor control, and outage work where every hour of downtime carried a real number.

Eventually, the drive and desire to make a shift in the industry inspired him to open Northern Arizona Electrical Solutions in Flagstaff. Since opening, he has added a team that personifies the mission and vision of the company.

We're happy to support our Northern Arizona community by providing electrical services in residential, commercial, and heavy industrial projects.

The Hope Cottage job

Hope Cottage, a local shelter, had nearly 200 light fixtures running on bulbs that had gone obsolete. The obvious fix was to open ceilings and replace the fixtures outright. Dominic found a conversion that kept every ceiling intact, and the crew worked around the shelter's schedule so the families staying there were never displaced.

As the CEO for Hope Cottage in Flagstaff, I am so grateful for NAES. 15 years ago when our women’s shelter was built, they used fluorescent fixtures/bulbs that eventually became obsolete, (no longer manufactured anywhere). The whole building started going dark as the lighting began to slowly fail. Multiple electricians said that replacing the old fixtures would be very expensive, take months to accomplish, and include extensive ceiling sheet rock repair. They didn’t want the job.

As time went by we searched the internet and buying any of the old obsolete bulbs that we could find. We tried to use standing lamps in rooms with high ceilings so that the shelter could keep functioning. Still, the hallways and dining area, dorms and play room continued to grow dark as more bulbs and fixtures slowly failed.

Dominic Chance, (owner of NAES) heard about what was happening. He came and spent two hours analyzing the problem and researching an entirely new solution. He literally took one of the old fixtures apart to see if they could be altered to safely accept modern bulbs. He did some research. NAES accepted the job. In one day the entire NAES team came into Hope Cottage and completely changed out sockets and parts of the old fixtures to convert each one to something that was sustainable. They didn’t have to tear into the ceiling. No sheetrock repair. This was over 200 fixtures in a large two-story building; no small task.

All the lighting works again at Hope Cottage! I am so grateful for the patience, ingenuity and talent of Dominic Chance and his team of electricians at NAES. They accomplished what no one else wanted to do, in record time, without disturbing the operation of a busy homeless shelter.

Needless to say, I would highly recommend this company!! Great people. Excellent work.

Master Electrician & Owner

  • Arizona Master Electrician
  • ROC#326755
  • Second-generation electrician
  • Former mining electrician

Dominic learned the trade the way most people learn a family business — on job sites with his father, starting at around eight years old. He carried that apprenticeship through his journeyman years and into his Arizona Master Electrician license.

In his early twenties he left residential work for heavy industry, running electrical for a large mining operation in North Dakota before coming home to northern Arizona and spending years as a mining electrician for a global mining company. Motor control, VFDs, three-phase distribution, and outages measured in dollars per minute became routine — experience most home-service contractors simply don't have.

He founded Northern Arizona Electrical Solutions in Flagstaff to bring that standard of work to homeowners, businesses, and facilities across northern Arizona. Dominic reviews the guidance published on this site for technical accuracy and code compliance.
