Fort Valley Electrician

The stretch of US-180 between Flagstaff and the Peaks: pines, cabins, and homes that sit in deep snow four months a year. We're ten minutes away.

About Fort Valley

Fort Valley is the wooded corridor running northwest out of Flagstaff along US-180 toward Snowbowl and the Grand Canyon. It's named for the 1880s settlement here, and the Fort Valley Experimental Forest — the oldest forest research station in the country, established 1908 — still operates just off the highway.

The character is residential but not suburban: homes on wooded lots along Fort Valley Road, Schultz Pass Road, and the lanes off Snowbowl Road, mixed with older summer cabins that have slowly become year-round residences. Elevation runs higher than town, which means more snow, longer cold, and a shorter window for outdoor work.

It's also the route every skier takes in winter, so the traffic pattern and the weather here are their own thing entirely.

Fort Valley is a short run northwest from our Flagstaff office on US-89 — same-day service is normal here. See our Flagstaff office or call (928) 563-6237.

Wiring for snow, elevation, and part-time cabins

Cabins converted to full-time living are the recurring story in Fort Valley. A structure wired in the 1960s for a woodstove, a few lights, and a hot plate now runs a heat pump, a well pump, a washer, and a home office. We upgrade those services properly — new panel, correct grounding, dedicated circuits — rather than stacking tandem breakers into a box that ran out of room decades ago.

The rest is snow country work: heat tape and roof de-icing circuits on GFCI protection that will actually hold, freeze-protected outdoor receptacles, generator inlets and transfer switches for the outages that come with heavy storms, and service masts and weatherheads that take a real beating from sliding snow. We also see a lot of buried feeder faults out here where a driveway light or shop run was direct-buried shallow and finally gave up.
