About McNary
McNary is a small community of a few hundred residents on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation, at the SR-260 and SR-73 area east of Hon-Dah, sitting high in the pines at roughly 7,300 feet.
It was built as a company lumber town: the Cady Lumber Company moved its mill and much of its workforce here from Louisiana in the 1920s, giving McNary a history unlike anywhere else in Arizona and a community whose roots trace back to those mill families. The mill is long gone, but the town layout and much of its original housing stock remain.
Today it's a quiet, forested community near Sunrise Park Resort and the White Mountain recreation country, with cold winters, heavy snow, and a housing stock that is mostly decades old.

Older housing and safety-first upgrades
Most McNary calls come down to age. Original mill-era and mid-century houses were wired for a fraction of today's load, and we routinely find 60- and 100-amp services, ungrounded receptacles, undersized or double-tapped breakers, and space heaters plugged into circuits that were never meant for them. We prioritize the safety items first — service and panel replacement, proper grounding and bonding, GFCI and AFCI protection where code requires it, and correcting overloaded circuits — then the comfort items.
Winter drives the rest: dedicated circuits for electric heat and heat tape, freeze protection for water lines and pumps, and repairs after snow-load or wind damage to service masts and drops. We also handle detached garage and shop wiring and the surge protection that matters in a place that loses power to storms more than most.
