About Mountainaire
Mountainaire sits directly south of Kachina Village along the old highway corridor, an unincorporated pocket of roughly 1,100 people tucked into the ponderosa between Flagstaff and Munds Park. It's quieter and more eclectic than its neighbor — some parcels still hold small original cabins from the mid-century summer-home era, while others have been rebuilt into full-time houses with shops and detached garages.
That patchwork is the defining feature. Two houses on the same street can be forty years apart in construction, and the older ones have often been added onto by owners over decades. There's no uniform vintage of wiring here the way there is in a tract subdivision.
Like Kachina Village, it's served by the Kachina Village Improvement District and sits at about 6,900 feet, with the same forest utility feed and the same winter that comes with it.

Owner-built additions and mixed-vintage wiring
A large share of our Mountainaire calls start as "can you just add an outlet" and turn into a conversation about what's already in the box. Homeowner-added circuits, junction boxes buried behind drywall, extension-cord wiring feeding a shed, and shared neutrals across two eras of work are all common finds. We open it up, tell you plainly what's safe and what isn't, and price the fix without padding it.
The steady work here is panel and service upgrades on older cabins, properly permitted subpanels for detached shops and garages, remodel and addition rough-in, and correcting past DIY work so an inspection or a home sale doesn't fall apart. Outdoor and well-house circuits get attention too — they take the brunt of the freeze-thaw cycle at this elevation.
