Residential Service

Electrical Meter Upgrades

We replace damaged or undersized meter bases and service entrances, and we handle the utility coordination that comes with it.

What's Included

  • Replacement of corroded, cracked, burned, or undersized meter bases with a utility-approved enclosure.
  • Service entrance conductor and mast work, including masts pulled loose by snow load or a fallen limb.
  • Weatherhead, riser, and service-drop attachment repair so water stops tracking down into the enclosure.
  • Grounding electrode system brought up to current requirements at the same time, since it's already open.
  • Utility disconnect and reconnect scheduling, permit filing, and meeting the inspector — all coordinated by us.

Questions about Electrical Meter Upgrades

My meter mast got pulled off the house. What now?

Call us and call the utility. The utility disconnects the drop, we rebuild the mast and meter base and get it inspected, and then they reconnect. We'll walk you through the order of operations and handle our part the same or next day where we can.

Do I need a meter upgrade with a panel upgrade?

Often, yes — if you're going from 100 to 200 amps, the meter base and service conductors usually have to grow with it. We look at both during the quote so you get one price, not a surprise halfway through.
