Will trenching wreck my yard?
We keep trenches narrow and put the sod or gravel back. In finished landscaping we route along bed edges and hardscape wherever we can to keep the disturbance minimal.
Can you add to a landscape lighting system that's already there?
Yes, as long as the transformer has capacity left, which we check first. If it's maxed out we'll tell you what a larger one costs before adding fixtures that would dim the whole run.

Example transformer capacity check
A 200-watt transformer powering ten 10-watt LED lamps has 100 watts of capacity left on paper. We would plan more conservatively and treat about 70 to 80 watts as usable, then verify that the wire is adequately sized for the run before adding fixtures.
Dark-sky compliance for larger projects
We check that proposed fixtures meet applicable dark-sky requirements, including amber light and proper shielding. Commercial projects may also require lighting engineering, photometric calculations, and testing. We have refused fixtures that do not meet dark-sky rules.

- What can a line-voltage security-lighting installation cost?
- A security-lighting project that requires conduit, weatherproof boxes, and related equipment can take one day to several days and may cost $3,000 to $5,000 or more. The final scope depends on the property and installation requirements.
- How do you check whether my existing transformer can support more lights?
- We identify the transformer's capacity, total the wattage of every connected fixture, and subtract that load to find the remaining capacity. We also check the wire size and run length for voltage drop before deciding whether to add fixtures or change the system.
- Can motion lights be adjusted so elk do not trigger them?
- Large animals will typically trigger motion detectors regardless of aiming or adjustment. That is expected: a sensor that cannot detect an elk may also fail to detect a person.
- Can snow and repeated freezing damage exterior fixtures?
- Yes. During thaw-and-freeze cycles, ice can build up on fixtures, add weight, damage their mounting, and allow water to leak into a building. Depending on the building and installation, ice-melt tape can help prevent these problems.
